I am a Passport Specialist who knows firsthand the difference our Union makes. Early
in my career, I faced challenges that nearly cost me my job, but the Union stood by me,
advocated for me, and helped me succeed. More specifically, NPC’s Senior Steward
Dephty Groth was exceptionally helpful. Because of her support, I have grown in
confidence, earned my promotion, and built a strong career in federal service. Now, I
want to give back by serving on the Executive Board as a Trustee. With my background
in veterans’ support, project management, and leadership, I will advocate for fairness,
transparency, and ensure that every member feels heard, valued, and protected.
Qualifications Experience
My career was saved by the advocacy of a Senior Steward who intervened during a
difficult time in my early service. Without the Union’s support, I may not be in federal
service today. This personal experience gives me a unique perspective on the value of
Union advocacy and motivates me to give back by serving on the Executive Board.
Since joining Passport Services, I have advanced from GS-7 to GS-9, gaining expertise
in adjudication, compliance, and decision-making under pressure. I bring leadership,
compassion, and resourcefulness to my work, guided by my CliftonStrengths: Achiever,
Communication, Activator, Positivity, and Analytical.
Advocacy Commitment
I know what it feels like to face unfair treatment, and I know the relief when the Union
steps in to ensure fairness and dignity. My story is proof of the Union’s purpose:
protecting employees and empowering them to succeed. I am committed to paying that
forward by advocating for colleagues, mentoring new employees, and ensuring every
member feels supported.
Professional Background
I serve as a GS-9 Passport Specialist at the Department of State, responsible for
adjudication of passport applications and compliance with regulations under tight
deadlines. I also worked as a Strategic Planning Intern in the Bureau of African Affairs,
contributing to budget development, congressional engagement, and international
programs. Beyond the State Department, I have managed a construction project in
Zimbabwe, achieving significant cost reductions and mentoring my team.
My service with the Department of Veterans Affairs included supporting military
personnel returning from deployment, connecting those in distress with counseling
services, and ensuring timely access to benefits as a Certifying Official. In addition, I
served as an Emotional Intelligence Coach with the International Coaching and
Mentoring Foundation in Zimbabwe, earning “Coach of the Year” awards in 2020 and
2021.
Vision as a Trustee
My vision for serving as a NFFE 1998 Trustee is rooted in gratitude and service. Having
directly experienced how the Union can protect and uplift its members, I want to extend
that same support to others. My priorities include:
● Advocacy: Ensuring no employee feels alone when facing workplace challenges.
● Mentorship: Helping new employees navigate their roles with confidence.
● Well-being: Promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
● Transparency & Trust: Building strong, open communication between members
and leadership.
● Empowerment: Encouraging participation and developing future Union
advocates.
● Through compassion, resourcefulness, and leadership, I am committed to
carrying forward the mission of the Union and ensuring it remains a strong voice
for all employees.
